Footnotes
Footnotes are descriptions provided at the end of the page. A small number appears after a word or phrase in a body of text and a corresponding description appears at the end of the page. The description is usually an elaboration of the word or phrase that has appeared in the body of the document.
This is often used when creating a referenced article, essay or chapter in a book.
1. Open a document you want to reference
2. Place the cursor after the word or phrase to be referenced
3. On the References tab in the Footnotes group, click on Insert Footnotes
4. Type in a description of the term of phrase that elaborates on the text
5. This Footnote is placed at the end of the page
Endnotes
Endnotes are similar to footnotes but the descriptions appear at the end of the text rather than at the end of the page. The endnotes will appear at the very end of the document.
6. With the document still open, place the cursor after the term or phrase to be referenced
7. On the References tab in the Footnotes group, click on Insert Endnote
8. Type in a description that elaborates or describes the term of phrase in the text
9. This Endnote is placed at the end of the document
10. Return to the Footnote that has been referenced in the text
11. Highlight the text and type over it with another description
12. The Footnote has been edited
13. Convert Footnotes to Endnotes
14. Click on the Footnotes Dialog Box Launcher. This is located on the bottom right of the Footnotes group on the References tab

15. Click on the Convert button

16. Choose Convert All Footnotes to Endnotes
17. Click OK
18. All Footnotes will be converted to Endnotes
19. It is also possible to follow the same method to convert all Endnotes to Footnotes
20. Save the document
